I'm very much looking forward to speaking at Sand Mountain UMC in October. It's Woman in the Pulpit Sunday for the United Methodist Women. We set this up a couple of days ago. They are going to have a huge bake sale after church. I hope that lots of people will stop in after church to pick up goodies. This is a major fundraiser for the ladies there.
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The added emphasis gives us all a reminder to stop and learn about the problem. Learning about it is the first step to solving it.
People are still coming to terms with the realities of domestic violence. Women are victims 85% of the time. Men are victimized as much as 15% of the time. Children have a greater than 50% of being physically battered in households where an adult is being abused also.
Thanks to Sand Mountain UMC for inviting me in to speak. I'm looking forward to spending time with you. See you in October!
