My heart goes out to the families and victims of the Colorado shooting. Crime is always senseless. It is especially so when children and families are involved. Sometimes all we hear about is the evil side of life. But not this time. This time is different. Right now, a lot of focus is on the heroes of this tragedy and I'm glad.
It is the heroes that we should be talking about. There are boyfriends who sheltered girlfriends, parents who sheltered children and strangers who helped each other. Nurses, doctors, law enforcement and staff were forced to deal with a scene that had to have been mayhem.
We are being shown that good people outnumber the bad. There was one gunman. Yet, we are hearing the stories of many more people who acted out of concern, compassion and self-sacrifice. This is a story of the many, and not of the one.
May we never forget the victims and the good actions that happened in Colorado. Heroes deserve to be honored. No one else does.
